U.S. May Escort Ahmadinejad to Ground Zero

Submitted by Don Anderson, Sep 20, 2007 09:04

This was presented at the President's morning meeting -

You are missing a huge opportunity in refusing Ahmadeinejadg an opportunity to showboat at the WTC. Like others of his ilk, he is trying to shove our penchant for restraining our impulses with diplomacy back into our faces and he is enjoying it. This is his way of baiting us with our own decency while showboating for his constituancy back home.

The best thing to do is to provoke him into protesting our decision to bar his visit to ground zero. In what at first will appear to radical Islam as weakness, we will accede to his request and give him a media opportunity he can't refuse. At this point he will have no choice but to appear at the WTC site. All you have to do when he arrives is share a podium with him and introduce him to his audience. Now the only thing left to do us follow his address with yours. Here is where you kill many birds with one stone.

1. He will have no choice but to make a half-assed effort at phony empathy. Here he is telling those back home that he is who is in control of the West's relationship with militant Islam; intimating with his presence that the 911 tragedy wasn't necessary if only American's were enlightened and overthrew both their constitution and religions in an effort to find peace with militant Islam. He may even be stupid enough to suggest that there is reconciliation (cheap oil and peace) waiting on the other side of reviewing our pro-Israel policies. This is the same sort of polite conversation one hears from the mob when they come calling in an effort to offer protection.

2. Now that he has set himself up, you have the opportunity leave a footprint in your legacy that will put many intellectuals on the left back on their heals with a "tear down this wall" or " Ich bin ein Berliner" moment. There is a shameful perception among Americans that you find it easy to send troops to do your bidding but have personally avoided (cowed away) from direct contact with men of open purpose - that you don't have the sack to be in the presence of single minded men- that you manipulate events so that you don't personally stand up to your enemies - that you deal with threatening men by "looking into their heart". Here we have a man with the in your face gull to dance on the graves of 3000 Americans. He must be answered. So after introducting him and allowing him to make his Tony Soprano offer of peaceand protection, you follow by addressing every person in the world with a television set.

You take the podium and simply make a short speech of appreciation; something like "...it is difficult sometimes to 'go the extra mile', 'to 'turn the other cheek' but today we have heard from the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who recently called for Israel to be wiped off the map - who has stated without reservation that 'The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny' as well as statements like "The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land" - who quoted Iran's revolutionary leader Ayat Allah Khomeini whostated "Israel must be wiped off the map,"- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has taken the opportunity to shape the minds of the young in Iran while addressing thousands of students gathered in an Interior Ministry conference hall where he also called for Palestinian unity; resistance and a point "where the annihilation of the Zionist regime will come". HERE YOU FOLLOW HIS ADDRESS THE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WITH AN ADDRESS TO THE PEOPLE OF IRAN AND HERE IS THE KICKER GEORGE .... the people of Iran elected our guest who requested a visit today to the site of our nation's first military invasion on American soil; Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; a veteran of Iran's hard line Revolutionary Guards - a man instrumental in the invasion and kidnapping for 444 days of our staff in the American embassy in Tehran. With his visit today, it is clear to me that we can get past our differences. Americans are a great and forgiving people; capable of getting past old grudges. Today is a new day - today by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to ground zero, he offers in a gesture of largess the beginning of Iran's dismantling and abandoning aggressive military programs that some including myself view as an aggressive foreign policy. His gesture of civility; this visit to a place of American criminal tragedy the beginning of his offer to begin Iran's dismantling their nuclear weapons program. I am looking forward to future talks as soon as announcements are made. I want to thank you President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for taking the first step in rebuilding relations between our two great societies.

Commentators have remarked that you are an intelligent but "incurious" man. Everyone knows that courage comes from love and your love for your country and our people will carry you through. Great presidents in our near past like Kennedy and Reagan understood the power of drama. Americans have a keen sense of the power of drama. You are going to galvanize the people with this moment. In order to get a sense of the atmosphere you will be creating, get your staff to get a copy of "A Bronx Tale" and go the the 'Biker scene".

First, you must manipulate this guy into pushing and even daring you to have him at ground zero followed by you reconsidering his request. Since there in no mistake as to his motives, the whole thing will be on him. From this point on the rest of your administration will be on auto-pilot.
