The Sun is quite right in its assessment. Ahmanadinejad tried to play New Yorkers, and the rest of us, for fools. Now he'll have to settle for the fools at Columbia. Head fool Bollinger intends to "challenge" Ahmanadinejad in his introduction (how does one introduce a wackjob like the president of Iran anyway??). I guess we'll never know for sure because, as the Sun previously reported, the audience will consist "exclusively of Columbia students, faculty, and a few invited guests" and, I'm guessing, reporters won't be among the "few invited guests". I am quite aware of the many reasons why academia is in such a sorry state; what I don't understand is why people continue to pay big bucks for an Ivy League, or comparable, "education". And I will never understand those who think a visit to Ground Zero or the Holocaust Musuem could possibly move murderous absolutists like Ahmanadinejad or Arafat. Such naivete is bad enough in the ordinary citizen, but it can have deadly consequences when the naif is Commander-in-Chief.
