He seems to have learned his lesson from the Bartolo Colon trade, and has refrained from repeating it with the Mets, and for that I'm thankful He also, on average, seems to have faired rather well in picking up guys uder the radar (Endy, Maine, Perez). My biggest bone to pick with him is his draft strategy. His drafting of middle relievers rather than high-ceiling prospects that drop due to signability or possible injury issues, is not a wise use of the Mets financial advantage. He may say that he makes up for it with their investment in signing guys in Latin America, but why not do both?
As for the present, the Mets need to think outside of the box when it comes to their bullpen. Why can't or couldn't we see Pelfrey and/or Humber out of the bullpen?
