Columbia Withdraws an Invitation to Ahmadinejad

Submitted by David M, Sep 20, 2007 20:55

I am not so much surprised at those who opposed Ahmadinejad's speech. I am more dissapointed at Eliana Johnson who writes and I quote: "Mr. Ahmadinejad is ...the head of a state that sponsors terrorism". No one has ever provided any proof that Iran has sponsored any act of terrorism. And yet reporter Johnson makes the statement as if it is an established fact. No government other than the United States and Isreal has made this outrageous claim; Therefore, obviously, it is only the opinion of 2 governments. The entire world, less the US and Isreal has economic, trade, and cultural exchange with Iran, and obviously do not consider Iran to be a sponsor of terrorism. Iran itself has denounced violence and declared it's opposition to the oppressive government of Isreal and not any particular race or ethnicity. As a reporter Eliana Johnson should stick with established facts while reporting instead of regurgitating incorrect not to mention inflamatory statements. Remember, all americans are not jumping on the band wagon of Iran-bashing. Perhaps Iran has a legitimate position.
