The Byzantine political intrigue revolving around New York City's public schools is one of the best arguments yet for school choice, whether tax credits or vouchers. This would enable poor and middle income parents to rescue their children from a system in which, obviously, the education of students is the last consideration on the agenda. New York parents should rise as one and demand school choice. Control of education should not rest with the mayor, with city politicians and bureaucrats, or a school board, but with parents themselves. School choice, either vouchers or tax credits, would return that right to them.
