Columbia Withdraws an Invitation to Ahmadinejad
in response to reader comment: Eliana Johnson - Bad Article

Submitted by Steve Bracero, Sep 24, 2007 22:34

Well, I read the first few comments left by readers in regards to the appearance of Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at Columbia University. However, I'm not sure why there is so much anger towards his appearance. President Ahmadinejad simply acknowledged an invitation to appear before an audience to debate politics. This is an extraordinary opportunity to meet and question politics with the President of a country we may fight against in the future. I have my own views as everyone else, I don't see an issue with his appearance. We may not agree with his politics nor may we agree with how he runs his country, but we should still grant the respect of his position and allow him the opportunity to stand his ground. I am not for or against this man, this was an opportunity for enrichment of the students at the University and I applaud the efforts of the Professor who initiated the invitation. In regards to Iran being a State sponsor of terrorism, that as we know is a declaration upheld by the Secretary of Defense. Eliana Johnson was only stating a fact as officiated by the Secretary of State. If nothing else, you have to give the guy credit for showing up?
