The Heritage Foundation was ridiculous for using their "smoker sign-up" projections as an illustration of the costs involved, and the New York Sun is even more so for referring to it to support their editorial. If that's the case, the to pay for an ongoing presence in Iraq, we have to sign up some.... Well, if it's just for this year, then you must be talking about 7 Billion per 22 million people? So... What is the Bush administration asking for this year? I believe after their latest "revision" (which I somehow just knew wouldn't be a cut), we're looking at about 180 billion, right? So 7 to 22 million.. 180 billion... Agh! We've gotta sign up, like, 565 million people if we're gonna cover this years war expenses!!! We don't have that many people! Everyone, panic time! Let the illegal immigrants in and put a cigarette in their mouths. We've got trouble!
Any kind of a comparison like that is ridiculous. However, pointing out that the 5 years of additional funds they are asking to help cover children's medical care could be paid in full with two months of the funds which will likely be allocated in full for this years war efforts, I'm thinking that I would rather spend it on the Children.
In the future, please consider leaving out the bizarre, theoretical smoking metaphors to help sell what is, frankly, and indefensible and heartless stance.
