I agree with garbo that 100 million cf light bulbs is a significant amount of mercury but this pales in comparison to the amount of mercury that would be spewed out of coal powered power plants if we do not do this simple change in habit to conserve electricity. The CF light bulbs can be safely recycled so if walmart can also start a program to collect the used light bulbs (although they last a long time) we could allevate the release of mercury into the environment.
