Ex-Cheney Adviser Denies Trying To Stir War With Iran

I do not pretend to know whether Newsweek or Mr. Wurmser is correct on the specific dispute discussed in this article; but I would have to be from another planet not to know that the Bush Administration and closely related former Administration officials such as Mr. Wormser and John Bolton are jointly engaging in a campaign to persuade Congress and the American people that Iran poses the same kind of (purported) threat now that Sadaam Hussein's Iraq (purportedly) posed in 2003 -- and therefore the same remedy (preemptive military action) is necessary and proper to use against Iran now, as was used against Iraq then. As that great American philosopher Yogi Berra (or was it Casey Stengal?) would have observed, "it's deja vu all over again." For example, as in 2003 we are now hearing the same flat assertions of fact (by Bolton repeatedly, and by the President at least once recently) that Iran "has" a nuclear weapons program and/or "has stated its intent to get nuclear weapons" -- both of which are notoriously false and unsupported by any facts whatsoever. As a prominent American psychiatrist once said of paranoic Black patients of his in the then violently racist Deep South, sometimes it's sane to be paranoid.
