Once again, an argument that sets up straw dogs and confuses the terms "illegal immigrants" and "immigrants." Open borders makes large sections of the country ungovernable. Los Angeles is perhaps the most glaring example, where the huge influx of illegal aliens is destroying schools and bankrupting hospitals and other social services and making law enforcement impossible. The new mass migration across our borders is not a mythical wave of "lovers of liberty and eager workers ready to continue the building of America." Just ask intelligence services trying to keep track of the Islamic jihadists flowing in along with the folks who merely want to work in our hotels and cut our lawns. It's anecdotal but most of the legal immigrants I have met are dead set against open borders for just these reasons--and because they did it the hard way, legally.
