Interesting article,but I do not agree with the statement that the classical canon is"essentially closed"

In fact,new works by many contemporary composers have been popping up everywhere in our time,

and some of them have been performed with considerable success,even if some people are

resistant to new music.There is greater diversity of repertoire being performed today than ever before

in the history of Western classical music.We can hear everything from medieval and renaissance music

to the latest works by contemporary composers.Of course,a lot of new music is not very good,but

this has been true of most of the music of every period
