McCain Campaign Clarifies ‘Christian Nation' Remarks

Submitted by Ali, Oct 1, 2007 12:02

McCain's right... the guys who came up with this country and its principles were versed in the Christian faith. Therefore, he'd like to see someone very familiar with the faith leading the country, since that person is likely to at least understand those principles. He never said he wouldn't welcome a President of another faith, or even that the President should be Christian. The complaints that his comments are somehow against religious pluralism is absurd. If a country's principles come from a certain tradition, familiarity with that tradition is hardly an unreasonable or insane thing to desire in a leader.
