City Is Pushing Colleges To Expand Into Poorer Areas

Submitted by Francisco Diaz Jr, Oct 4, 2007 12:24

there currently are efforts underway by a reputable Not for Profit organization which was created through an act of legislation to build student dormitory housing in collaboration with colleges in NYC. Thery are located in poor neighborhoods. Educational Housing Services enters into lease agreements with the College Institution and then builds and manages the property. there are success stories already with City College and Pace University. It would be worth speaking to the Directore of EHS Mr. George Scott who has been doing this for over 20 years. Mr. Scott was interviewed by Ms. Vasquez and he shared some interesting and creative ways to build student housing in collaboration with colleges both private and part of the Cuny and Suny system. I would like for you to see how EHS can help the city of New York.

Thank you for your attention.
