The Ivy League has declined in relevance because brain power has shifted. MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech have taken over as science/mathematics/technology are now where the intellectual excitement and power are. Harvard clings to its antiquated core program, while Stanford 's encouragement of interdisciplinary study produces vigorous hybrids across the spectrum.
