Ms. Peak's comments on the PBM shell game are dead-on. Her readers should know, however, that there are a small number of new-generation PBMs out here, mine among them, that offer 100% drug price transparency and that do everything we can to help our members always find the drugs they need at the lowest possible cost. Our results have been impressive, with our members saving 35% overall while actually receiving more prescriptions to treat their chronic problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, heart disease, chronic pain, arthritis, and high cholesterol. However, until more employer executives pay attention to these costs and learn how they're being taken advantage of by their current PBMs, not much is likely to change.
