Homeowners May Be Forced To Plant Trees

Submitted by Paul A. Toomey, Oct 7, 2007 12:40

The planting of trees is beneficial n a numer of ways:Providing shade & cutting energy savings, oxygenation and beautification of the area. But, I don't think that the plantng and maintenance should be the sole responsibility of the homeowners. If the city would take of 3/4 of the cost of the planting and initial care of the saplings it would seem to be a reasonable proposition. After all, the homeowners would be doing the seasonal raking, gutter cleaning and sidewalk maintenance. When a tree is taken down, it sees as if a piece of the neighborhood is missing.
