Binding Ellison
in response to reader comment: To Bolan: YOU miss the point

Sir, the American constitution was not based on native American values.

The American values that Mr. Bolan speaks of are:
1. All men (people) are created equal under the eyes of God.
2. All religious beliefs are allow, as long as that belief does not infringe on others
3. Every person has the right to choose.

Our forefathers were Christian, but they realized that the Church should not be allowed to hold sway over the government, thus divisions of church and state. In the majority of Muslim societies (countries) the Church is the dominant factor in all government activities. We as Americans do not need or want that in our country. So we as a people have an expectation of "If you come to America become an American". Follow the rules of this country. Become part of the greatest country that has ever existed. Do not come to our country and expect us to bend to your beliefs. If your religion opposes the taking of an oath or swearing on the bible so be it. But to not force your religion upon the majority.

All Mr. Ellison needs to is take the affirmation of office. Does he have to force the Koran upon the American people? Does he have to slap the face of over 200 years of tradition, that the American people has respected and followed? The answer is Mr. Ellison has an agenda, what that is I don't know. But I do not agree with him doing this, it is an embarrassment.
