It appears that nothing we can SAY would deter Iran from their chosen couse of action; the development of WMD. Therefore the question is only what we will DO. It appears that those who believe the action taken in Iraq could have been avoided if only we had relied on the UN to handle the problem must now face that facts that in the face of the defiance of Iran the UN is powerless to do anything. I reluctantly conclude that as much as we desire peace we need to take a longer range view. It appear therefore that military actions to preclude Iran threatening the world with WMD is the only couse available. Whatever the consequence now is better than the long range consequence of allowing Iran to develope WMD. What will we say when Iran says, "we have a nuke in NYC; convert to Islam or we will explode it".
