My inclination is to think that this type of action is technically traitorous. Treason is punishable by death during a time of war. Perhaps the leaker and the collaborating media outlet do not deserve death, though, and perhaps the case can be made that this is not treason so much as criminally reckless, negligent, selfish, poor judgement. This type of thing is not going to go away without consequences, though. These people should be banned from their respective careers or tangent careers. The leaker and the officials at the network (I don't care how up or far down the ladder they go) need to be knocked down to entry-level careers in shoe sales, with their mortgages, homes, cars, cable tv, etc. all on the line. Fines should be applied that clean them out. The network should be off the air for no short time or banned from the airwaves in perpetuity. People need to be made to stop and think about what they are doing, so that if the fate of their own country is not of concern to them, much less the lives of our soldiers and other operatives in the field, then at least they feel the heat of knowing that they are putting their own careers, livelihood, and their family's livelihood on the line. It's time to make these people pay, and with a price that hurts and reverberataes for a long time with every other person who might be in a position to make the same kind of bad decisions about what to do with America's sensitive information that might come into their possession.
