NFL Must Nix the Timeout Before the Field Goal Trick

Submitted by Steve, Oct 10, 2007 14:55

On long attempts, this might hurt the defenders as there is less than a 50-50 chance for success giving the kicker a second chance. Even if the field goal is made, the kicker now has extra confidence since he's proven to himself that he can do it and has seen the opponents' defense.

I'd love to see the kicker miss the first attempt , get a second chance because of a time out call, make the second attempt, and then run over to the opposing coach and say "Thank you".
