Bolton's Gifts

Submitted by Arlene Bridges-Samuels, Dec 9, 2006 07:36

That John Bolton is leaving his post as the US Ambassador to the UN is yet another nail in the coffin of appeasing terror and negotiating with dictators and tyrants. Most of the UN member nations must be privately celebrating in their office suites, fancy hotels, and limos. Their own people live under repression but they sit in New York enjoying the glories of capitalism, oil for food money, and other forms of rampant graft within the UN. John Bolton was one of the few voices of reason and courage in the UN.

That our US Congress was unwilling to confirm this reasonable man who spoke out against wrong-doers, is another cause for me as an American to bemoan the state of affairs within our own ranks. Having the United Nations on United States soil is like having cancer without operating on it. John Bolton's departure is an ominous sign for freedom loving nations. It means to me that our US lawmakers have capitulated to appeasement and are choosing to live in a state of denial.

Israel loses a firm friend in Bolton. We are back to 1939 when world leaders wanted to negotiate with Hitler. Leaders fell under Hitler's hypnotic propaganda, thinking they were dealing with someone like them when in fact they were dealing with the face of evil wrapped in a sly little smile. History is in the process of repeating itself. The Baker-Hamilton Commission wants to bring Iran and Syria into discussions, deluded that they are talking with democratic leaders. Putin, a lifelong KGB operative, is showing his true colors. Rats are jumping ship and it looks as if Israel will be set adrift in a sea of hatred once again.

So goodbye, John the Brave. I will miss your voice of truth. Your directness. And your willingness to take risks for what is right. I hope that the many death threats I'm sure you've received will be rescinded. Maybe you can live in peace for a while.
