Those who feel that Brady Quinn shoukld get the Heisman are victims of Notre Dame aura.....we will forever hear about the Four Horsemen and Knute Rockne...that's fine, but those days are over and this now.
Smith is an outstanding QB and he does have great supporting players on offense. Quinn did not lack good supporting players as receivers, he had at least three of them. And finally remember that the two respective coaches have each their own idea of offensive football. Weiss leans to the passing game, while Tressel is more conservative. However, Tressel had the advantage of a QB who is an excellent passer and a great runner and why not play a more balanced attack.
Finally, it was the big games where Smith shined and where Quinn had his problems. That is the difference. If Brady Quinn played for any school with less than the ND aura, we would not be writing about this Heisman competition.
