Nonvoters Get Their Just Desserts

Ms. Colon, you are spot on. THank you for your common sense commentary on Spitzer's terribly ill-advised and ill-timed decision to issue drivers licenses to illegal aliens. I too, believe that it is a ploy to secure votes from imaginary "citizens" through the use of motor-voter laws. The DREAM Act is another parallell. My eldest son said he would like to apply to Arizona State University, I suggested he not consider it because we would be paying out-of-state tuition making it as costly as some of the private institutions he's looking at on the East coast. His reply, "Mom, couldn't I just go to Mexico, cross the border to Arizona and get in-state tuition?" Well, yes and no was my reply. ILLEGAL ALIENS can receive in-state tuition benefits in Arizona but not U.S. citizens from any other state. (and if Sen. Durbin's DREAM ACT is passed in November, illegal alien students in ANY STATE can get this benefit). Futhermore, we play by the rules even though that makes us all second-class citizens in our own country.
