American Ties at Serious Risk, Turkish General Says

Submitted by Steven Gruber, Oct 14, 2007 12:06

There's no longer a USSR threatening the Balkans or Greece or Turkey or Iran. We don't absolutely need Turkey as a bulwark against Communism. Sure, it would be good to have a moderate, secular , democratic, Muslim nation as an ally and NATO member, but if Turkey is now less moderate and less secular than it was, what does it offer us? It takes two to tango. Furthermore, the Democrat Congress' trick to rile-up Turkey to make it less willing to help the President with Iraq and Iran is transparent. Why the resolution now? If the Turks are smart, they won't become pawns in our internal dirty tricks.
