'Dark Pools' Threaten Wall Street

Submitted by John Ballard, Oct 16, 2007 10:41

What conceivable public service does the growth in Dark Pools provide? There was a time when the SEC used to proclaim the inviolable principal of the Public Limit Order book. The public should have access, in real time, to the value of their share holdings, and the freedom to transact at the best available price, I'm not clear how this is enhanced by this latest development.

If the authorities continue to act in collusion with the industry to concentrate the movement of investment capital in the hands of fewer and fewer mega investors then I'm thinking of turning back to investing in Beanie Babies!
