Pretty fair summary of the book - Krugman does omit some important things here and there but overall it's a good read.
One thing I think you are missing, though: Krugman isn't writing this book to sing the praises of the Democratic party, it is to sing the praises of liberalism. There is definitely a difference.
The pre-civil rights southern democrats take a bashing in this book for their racist views etc. Nixon gets good marks for liberal policies like the creation of the EPA. Eisenhower and Schwartzenegger both earn praise. It is movement conservatives that are the target of Krugman's ire, not necessarily Republicans. It's people opposed to a gov. role in lowering inequality, regardless of party.
The last bit of the book even goes on to say that Krugman himself is only partisan (i.e. a Democrat) because they are the only ones supporting progressive/liberal causes now.
