How a City Hospital Won Transplant Title
in response to reader comment: desensitization protocol

Submitted by Joan Lando, Oct 17, 2007 10:03

It is wonderful news that your daughter was able to get the desensitization treatment she needed to be healthy again! We are getting constant requests for infomation on our website www.sevenluckystars.com from people who have high antibodies or whose donors are a different blood type (ABO incompatible). My daughter, Soraya, was successfully treated with the Cedars-Sinai IVIG Protocol by Dr. Stanley Jordan. We have links on the website to the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin, the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins who are the only other transplant centers we have found who offer these therapies on their websites to treat this problem. Since over 70% of living donors who step forward to offer a kidney are turned down for reasons of wrong blood type of bad tissue match, this is a huge problem, but is being successfully treated at the listed transplant centers and the general public is not aware of it. Our experience was that if the transplant center had not learned and implimented the therapies, they often do not tell people they exist. If you would like us to post your experience on the website to help other people please let us know. You can contact us through our website, if you like. www.sevenluckystars.com. All the best, Joan
