As America Focuses on Iraq, Lebanon Is Left Vulnerable

Mr. Avni,

for the sake of your ideology and beliefs and considering that most of the "anti-syrian" views anyone would have are mainly adopted from the long fight we have conducted for the last 30 years to get our voices heard (in our country and abroad) against the syrian hegemony and control over Lebanon that was provided by the main world powers, we regard today your description and referral to people who flooded the streets of Beirut as "pro-syrians" as a baseless and disrepectful depiction.

please rest assured that the same true anti-syrian people who have fought the syrian hegemony over lebanon are the same people who are flooding the streets of Beirut today demanding a sovereign Lebanon free of any international hegemony and control. and in the same way we fought for 30 years to get our voices heard against the syrian control, we will remain unrelentless for another 60 years to reverse this approach towards any other control, although i'm sure that the reversal process will not take as much time to be done since we have acquired the means and ways to do so.

what you call "anti-syrians" now were the ones who served the syrians for years, and those you call "pro-Syria Christian groups" are the same ones who fought the syrians during the same period, and are the same ones who contributed in providing you with the "anti-syrian" notion.

you can chose to remain stuck in the past, or look at the current events so we move forward, but what i really suggest, in the sake of spreading true peace in the region, is that you look at the wider picture, and instead of depicting true loyal patriots as "pro-syrians" and "pro-iranians", help us align the remaining ideology of "pro-syrians" and "death to america and israel chants" (who are a majority in numbers that cannot be denied, but no longer in ideas) to our lebanese nationalism and patriotism, where they would have their own country and land to believe in. we have advanced in a great sense of erasing this old ideology and radicalism and this is due to many lebanese issues you refuse to look at or completly ignore. but this is a fact and we will keep on voicing it, as "ignorants" and "fundemantalist beleivers" alike will have no place in our society.
