Dear Sir,

Your article reflects your lack of knowledge of history. Your'e advocating that the Congress should be the judge and the jury on history without knowing the facts - simply because few of the congressman desire to get Armenian votes in their district ...even if it means putting the rest of the US at risk. This is all taking place when there are hundreds of other issues American people need from their Congress.

The facts on this issue have never been brought to light in a court of law. Without this procedure, the more emotional (and Christian) party will inevitably win the propaganda war in the west. Millions of lobby dollars insure this as well. Media is well entangled. Television here in New York City is littered with Armenian propaganda, including children singing songs and holding violent signage against Turks.

The argument is very convoluted at this point – this is something that no one can deny. Most educated people crave the facts at the table. We can't subsist on fluff alone. The only way to resolve this issue is to bring the facts into a court of law. This means that Armenia will have to open its archives.

Please look up Gunay Evinch, a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in International Law and the Armenian allegation of genocide. He has been published and quoted in The Washington Post, Washington Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, Christian Science Monitor and Barrister Bar Magazine, and Al Jazeera USA.

His main points:

Genocide is a clearly defined term and Turkey's actions in 1915 fall outside of those definitions.

Armenian archives have never been opened – what is there to hide?

Here are a few more facts to address the fantastic claims:

Demographic studies (British, French and Ottoman accounts) prove that prior to World War I fewer than 1.5 million Armenians lived in the entire Ottoman Empire. Thus, allegations that more than 1.5 million Armenians from eastern Anatolia died must be false.

Figures reporting the pre-World War I Armenian population vary widely, with Armenian sources claiming far more than others. British, French and Ottoman sources give total figures of 1.05-1.50 million. Only certain Armenian sources claim a pre-war population larger than 1.50 million. Comparing these to post-war figures yields a rough estimate of losses. Not all Armenians were removed from Turkey, and not all of those who were removed died.

Over 2.5 million Muslims died during the same period from similar causes -- this is well documented.

Between 1893 and 1915 Ottoman Armenians in eastern Anatolia rebelled against their government --the Ottoman government -- and joined Armenian revolutionary groups, such as the notorious Dashnaks and Hunchaks. They spearheaded a massive Russian invasion of Eastern Anatolia. On November 5, 1914, the President of the Armenian National Bureau in Tblisi declared to Czar Nicholas II, "From all countries Armenians are hurrying to enter the ranks for the glorious Russian Army, with their blood to serve the victory of Russian arms." In the service of the Russians, traitorous Armenians massacred over 60,000 Muslims in the city of Van alone.

Apparently many Armenians themselves have not been exposed to the truth. This is an issue that Mr. Evinch brings up with sympathy – for Armenians have deluded themselves and bred contempt on all successive generations based old baseless grudges, which are fueled and entertained by other self-interested parties. John Evans has not exposed himself to the numbers, the facts or the whole truth either. His dismissal is one of the few glimmers of hope in uncovering the truth, for all to consider.
