New York City, which in the past has been underfunded, is now receiving about the same share of state education funds as its share of the state's public school students. Even though those students have greater needs. Even though NYC residents pay a much higher share of state taxes. And, the city's share of education funding could be slashed if it doesn't need "accountability" standards.
Meanwhile, over-funded schools in the rest of the state continue to put everyone in sight on the payroll. For this there is no accountability at all. Instead the more they spend, the more they claim they deserve, because their taxes are too high.
