Amid Push To Make Public School Gifted and Talented Programs More Diverse, Families Seek Spots for Their Children

Submitted by Michele R. King, Oct 23, 2007 13:54

My grandson (a black man child of 5 years ) had made it into the Anderson School, Board of Education refuses to give him busing, I have to pay for a private bus company and have to get him up at 5am each morning to get him on the bus so that he can arrive at 8:30am each morning and return home around 5:45 pm each evening after being let out of class at 3:20pm. So althought they are letting our children take these test, they are hoping that we have no way of getting them there. Then Board of Education says that they can go to a gifted and talented program in their district, but the Andserson School is only one of two gifted and Talented school. With on 4-5 child of color who have been accepted
