"No illusions that the housing projects...are going to be sold off and turned into luxury condominiums tomorrow." That's certainly a shame--why should our hardy pioneers of the the West (Chelsea, that is, in the glittering new buildings with private High Line access, as well as other compass points) have to see their transformative efforts tarnished by this blight populated by, you know, not their crowd? As long as the goal is to remove these residences, and thus logically their residents, from Manhattan Village the vertical gated community, let's get creative. Can we put that housing somewhere that needs the infusion of construction and people it would entail? I'm talking, of course, about the Big Easy.
