Déjà Vu at Columbia
in response to reader comment: Stephen Wise right - Antonius worse than depicted

Submitted by John Prudden, Oct 25, 2007 12:48

Hillel Halkin has some serious problems with his timeline. If Antonius was denied an appointment at Columbia in 1936, it could not have been on account of his book, The Arab Awakening. That book was first published in 1938! As to the scholarly merits of the book, it is published TO THIS DAY by Columbia University Press. I have not read it, but it gives every indication of being a readable, excellant, and expert presentation of the arab national movement.
