I absolutely love this article by john mcwhorter, just like most of the othjer articles he writes. In his article John speaks of the the unsung 'silent majority' the ordinary working class (black) man who gets his head down and gets on with it. We are a silent majority because we are not always 'sexy' or hip enough to attract the attention of the media mover and shakers, the trendy NY and London fashion magazines and opinion formers. I am a British born black man, and the only images of a black man you will tend to see in our media is other fetishesed, criminalised or neutered. We don't want special treatment, and god forbid at least in the UK we definitely don't want affirmative action.
