Obama Fails To Quell Row Over an Anti-Gay Singer

Mr. Wapshott:

Are you a psychologist or psychiatrist? If so, what are your credentials? If not, why do you feel qualified to make psychiatric diagnoses such as "homophobia"? Wouldn't anti"-homosexual" or "anti-gay" be more accurate? You are supposed to be interested in accuracy as a journalist, no? And speaking of "homophobia," what does it mean? A person who is suffering from the disease of fearing homosexuals? Is this disorder in the DSM-IV? And what are the symptoms of this "disease"?

Just because a person does not like the practices of homosexuals does not mean he is afraid of homosexuals or that he necessarily dislikes all homosexuals. It does not mean he is suffering from a psychiatric disorder. But the use of bogus terms like "homophobia" to refer to someone who dislikes homosexuality is an attempt to smear all of us who dislike the practices of homosexuals as suffering from a dread mental disease.

Nice attempt to obfuscate, but it doesn't work.
