I liked the movie and I really liked the parents. I know people just like them, ready to help and always there.
What makes the film work is that we both want and need people in our lives to listen when we are in crisis. Nina represents all those women for whom abortion is perceived as the only choice for whatever reason. Jose is a friend and we all could use a friend like Jose when it seems like our world is coming down around us.
The imagery is touching, the music is wonderful and the scenes shot by the director invite us to be a part of the story. I liked the message to be sure - but the movie is a slice of life - and very "bella."
