Is it merely that the defense drives the Colorado team and then is supplemented by the Rockies batting? Or is it that just a scant 10 days ago, the entire nation had a glimpse of what that ball club could do when the bats swing with purpose thusly causing the defense to gobble up every loose ball that came into the players vicinity.

I don't think that it is so much of a paradoxical meeting between the two teams because of the fact that it takes both offense and defense working in unison to create the essential all around game to finish the task at hand and bring home a trophy. Colorado has focused more on their surroundings in an unbiased setting undeniably in favor of the opposing ball club, and in doing so have forgotten that they deserve to be there more than any other team in the MLB save for their opponent. No team will ever achieve 21 of 22 games won with out offense and defense working in unison and harmony.

My hope is that when they remember the fact that they are playing ball as one of the final two teams for the 06-07 season and that they have all of the talent and depth that they need to win MLB's penant trophy they will start to remember that they have beaten the odds once and can do so again. They will see that from a detractors stand point that 13 years in the league is not even a sufficient payment of ones dues in order to even be eligible to play post season baseball in America, and I think that will put a chip on their shoulder. By saying that the Colorado Rockies are not competent enough to face off with all-world Boston, whom the Rockies had taken 2 out of 3 games during their regular season meeting, you are saying that the system of baseball is flawed and that the Rockies have disrespected Americas pastime and have bypassed some sacred law and criterion. To that I say "Bull" sir and you can keep that.

To conclude, I will remind everyone that the Colorado Rockies face a monumental task, the likes of which have not been seen since, oh that's right, the Boston Red Sox themselves did it. If memory serves, Colorado now is looking at the championship ascent path that the same fate laden team that did it to an impossible odd favorite in the Yankees. At that time, not a soul dared utter a word of the desparity the ball club hung to. And yet it turned. Those who were warm, cooled. Those who were powerful, became human. Even 5'2" 115lb. Pedroia has learned the secret of the wheel, so too shall these Colorado Rockies.
