I have read the article and the comments, and I must say that I am more than surprised about the level og hatered and grimness the different writers express. If any of the writers would have taken the effort and read the reasons why the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the price to Muhammad Yunus. He was awarded the price because through his funding of poor people the standard of life, education and understanding in the world will increase and hopefully peace will prosper. The Committee also saw him as a bridge-builder between north and south, between islam and other religions. I see these comments as bridge-destroying. There is no other way to everlasting peace than through bringing the poor people up to a level where they can take care of themselves and get education. As the quality of life is increased there will be a demand for democracy and the religious fundementalists will hav less influence...... This is of course not done overnight, but we in the western world should keep in mind that we have spent several hundred years to get to the point we are today.
Norway may well be a godforsaken country, but we do have freedom of speach, freedom of religion - but these fredoms should not be used to mock others beliefs and religions. Regardless.
And last but not least - - to use the quisling word to describe why the former Cat Stevens was allowed to take part in the concert - that describes the low level og the argumntation.
