Very very astute - use the "scrubs," who hustle and can move well w/out the ball, paired with some great shooters on both a 1st and a 2nd unit - in fact, what's wrong with going 11 or 12 or 13 deep? people always say guys don't like it ... but they also don't like losing ----- balkman and lee will create havoc on both the boards, which will reduce the # of easy fast break baskets by opponents and also reduce opponents' 2nd chance scoring --- also, when they have a starting 5 of shooters out there usually 3 or 4 of them stand around and it gets BORING to watch! guys like balkman are happy moving w/out the ball -- so we get some excitement --- Thomas should remember that his champion piston teams had a lot of guys who didn't need the ball - Rodman, Salley, Laimbeer, etc. -- to complement the guys who did, like himself, Vinny, Aguirre, etc. - and Dumars was a high scorer who could play away from the ball ...
