Brazil Coach's New Methods Buck a Tradition of Scoring

Submitted by Sham Samaroo, Nov 2, 2007 06:00

Hammer hits nail dead center. The choice of Dunga as coach says much about Brasilian soccer today. Dunga was captain when Brasil won the world cup final in '94 - a boring, snoring, defensive game that crawled to a penalty shootout. Dunga, as someone once remarked, was the German on the Brasilian team - referring to the mentality and style of the player. Dunga subscribes to the theory that one cannot lose if one does not give up a goal - true, but what a bore?
