As an owner operator in Austin Texas, I keep up with your city's realtionship with pedicabs. I for one do not mind safety regulations and permit fees. Keeps unsafe operators from ruining the reputation of the trade.

As someone who has invested enough to run a responsible operation myself, I will tell you that rear brakes should be required on all pedicabs running the street.

And taxi drivers whining that we are taking their business need to get a grip and quit whining. People dont take a pedicab for the same reasons they take a cab. Pedicabs are FUN, Taxi's are not. When was the last time you LAUGHED in a cab ride, whooping at passersby, and climbed out with a feeling of euphoria? It's not the same service or product we are offering.
