I think there are other reasons rather than tenure that played a role in her getting tenure at Barnard. You can bet people will be anxious to see her newest research to find if that has been politicized also.

A teacher and a scholar who refuses to listen to reason or study the facts all around, Ms El-Haj conned the administrators. Arabs were not one of the earliest people in Canaan. They appeared in the 7th century after the advent of Islam. Arab/Muslim history is whatever they say it is. To hell with the facts.
