Idea of Terrorist Attack Missing From City Guide

Submitted by faahope, Nov 3, 2007 11:16

No one ever thinks about what the FAA has done to the safety of the U.S. Putting all the radar for New York on the island only about 35 miles apart. So if a terrorist attach takes the radar out what is the backup plan?

Believe it or not on September 25, 2007 when the Memphis ARTCC Center went down, no other ARTCC Center took over the airspace. Memphis is surrounded by 5 other ARTCC Centers and not one assumed that air space to keep things moving it all stopped for 3 hours.

The FAA says that if one center goes down another takes over. Why didn't that happen on September 25th?
