Thompson Wouldn't Seek Abortion Ban Amendment

Submitted by Robert Franklin, Nov 5, 2007 13:45

I watched Senator Thompson's appearance on Meet The Press Sunday, and I have to agree with his positions on Federalism, which are consistent with my own. Although I also believe that life begins at conception, and that the very thought of homosexual marriage is absolutely abhorrent, disgusting, and against my personal beliefs, however I agree with Senator Thompson's position regarding the US Constitution and the limits of Federal power. I am not an expert on the US Constitution, although I have a deep abiding respect and love for it's principals and traditions. I believe in the Jeffersonian principle that each State is an experiment in democracy; and possessing inherent power, and thus having the right to exercise its power so long as it does not violate the principals enshrined in our Bill of Rights. I agree with President Reagan that at the very core and heart of our Republican form of democracy is libertarianism; and that it is the very essense that breaths life into our freedoms. Senator Thompson, I believe, is right with his Federalist views, and is to be applauded for a courageous and principaled stand regardless of offense others may take.
