Fidler Presents Alternative To Traffic Plan

I disagree with the author, this is a not a one-man campaign. As polls show, most of the City does NOT approve of Congestion Taxing. Filder and Brodsky are definitely not alone. NYC mass transit is not prepared to contend with congestion pricing, especially in Fidler's district, and it just shows how unprepared congestion pricing is. The City needs to clean house first.

One easy, viable, alternative low-cost solution to Congestion Taxing would be permanent No Permit Parking signs all over the City to deter 150,000 government sector commuters with parking permits from driving in and parking illegally in Manhattan for "free". Educating the public and government sector commuters regarding D.O.T. No Permit Areas - yes, they really do exist - is vital to prevent thousands of vehicles from parking illegally in Manhattan everyday. With the enticement of "free" illegal parking gone, there would be much less pollution, much less congestion, and we NYC residents might all have a better quality of life. This would also make life much easier for government workers who are actually, really "on official business" rather than commuting and parking all day illegally.
