2nd Avenue Deli May Move Uptown on 3rd
in response to reader comment: update?

Submitted by Martin, Nov 6, 2007 23:20

Fortunately, I live only a block away - and was always looking for a good Kosher deli. Wow! Now I'll have one in my backyard! I walked by the other day and they had a note on the door looking for help. The interior appears finished. The opening is, no doubt, imminent. Although not on the main drag (on 33rd between Third and Lex), they should do well. We have the hospitals, Yeshivas, the Kip's Bay theaters, the 6 train - all within a short walk. And the bars on Third Avenue are expanding to a good nightlife. They'll give Sarge's (24 hours also, Third at 36th) a good ride, particularly if Kosher. They may both actually benefit - drawing a larger Deli destination crowd into the area.

The square footage appears to be less (from a casual review of the photos), but I guess they could always open a second floor for overflow/catering - if they own the building.
