The Courage of Conviction

Can there be any doubt as to why the demagogues in Congress wanted Mr. Bolton out of his position at the UN? Mr. Bolton is a man of great intellect and wisdom, just the type of person the demagogues fear. Where the demagogues want someone who will kowtow to the UN, Mr. Bolton is a man who stood up to and demanded that the UN listen to what he had to say. Unless the UN is completely dismantled and restructured from top to bottom, including replacing the entire administrative staff, it will continue to be nothing but a monetary drain on the US while accomplishing nothing of real value.

Likewise, unless the US State Dept. under goes a similar restructuring, it will not be of any real value to any President, unless the President has the very same views and opinions of those within the State Dept. It might be very wise to limit the number of years any individual can remain in the State Dept, without approval of the President and Congress (If we could get a Congress concerned with the best interest of the US and not the approval of Europe). Senior level staff should be required to venture outside government service every 5 years for a minimum of 2 years, thus gaining a real insight to how State Dept. actions affect US businesses and other interests.

The CIA should under go a similar restructuring. Field Officers and others along the same career tract should be shifted every few years to ensure their activities are not compromised. Mid-level personnel should be limited to the number of years, if not promoted, retired, much like the US military. Upper echelon personnel should follow a similar patter as that described for the State Dept.

ANY personnel in either the State Dept. or the CIA discovered to be working at cross purposes or attempting to side track or derail the President's directives or initiatives should be terminated and charged with a criminal offense. Trials, if any, would be necessarily secret and held similar to an impeachment trial of the President/Vice President. These trials would be held in closed sessions to ensure classified information was not compromised. These individuals take an oath to follow the orders and directives of the President and by not doing so, they are in violation of that oath.

Members of the US Congress found to have leaked or intentionally compromised classified information that compromises US security or military efforts, should face removal from office in a similar procedure.
