This story has already been debunked. Athletes and attendees are NOT banned from brining their OWN personal religious items. The Italian and Catholic press got the translations wrong (intentionally?) You just can't bring extras for dissemination, i.e., proselytism - which should be a no brainer. Its a sporting event not a religious jamboree.

Martin Lee a James Madison? Not even close. Hong Kong has a lot better pro-democracy advocates then he. And ones that don't damage the cause for their own glory and grandstanding.
