Make Room for Wiccans

Tarot is really a kind of card game. Tarot cards are playing cards. Tarot cards do not come from Egypt and they were not intended for fortune telling. There is no evidence linking tarot cards with Kabbalah or any other esoteric phenomenon. The tarot deck was created in 15th century Italy for playing a card game similar to spades and euchre and for no other reason. Tarot games are still played today in Europe, especially in France and Austria. Many of the players today are using a more modern looking deck with spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs and the trump pictures have very different scenes than the occult decks. Despite popular misconceptions promoted by the mainstream media, tarot is not some mysterious oracle but a type of card game. Tarot's mystery has been solved.
