Reader comment on:
The Book Is Dead; Long Live the Book

Submitted by Jorge Espinosa, Dec 12, 2006 14:03

Wow. What a disparate view. I have had the reader for a month and have read more in that time than in the preceding three. I still love and treasure my quality hard covers for certain works but, for daily reading, versus a modern poor quality paperback, no contest.

The black between page flips is far less distracting and much faster than flipping the page on a book. The e-book is far easier to read and far more soothing on the eyes. If I get tired, I pump up the font. I have fifty books loaded in the reader and still have room for fifty more. Sure, I wish it had a search feature and that some of the other controls were more intuitive but, that does not make it any less of a step up from a cheap, hard to handle and poorly printed paperback.

I highly recommend the reader and urge you to at least give it a look before passing judgment.
